Small Dog Big City

Hallo dear Mustard Lovers,

It's been a time of great doingness and precious little restingness, so I'm very much looking forward to my break in Cornwall coming soon.

I've been busy getting new work together for my show, Small Dog Big City, which opens 16th and 17th September at John Noott Galleries in Broadway Worcestershire. There'll be not one but TWO opening receptions =one evening, one daytime= so please contact the gallery direct for your invitations and all details. And if you can't make it to the show I hope you'll look at the new work online at www.john-noott.com where it should be ready to view shortly... I'll be very excited to discover how you like it, so be sure to let me know through our Facebook group should you feel inclined. I value your feedback. There are some New York street scenes from our trip in April, as well as a Mr Lolly Ice icecream van, beach huts and a few country walks. 34 new works (and six lovely little framed drawings) available from receipt of their catalogue, plus new prints of some of my favourites coming out in the New Year. I'll post on our Facebook Group when they are available!

Encouraged by the success of my first bronze figures which sold out in just a few months, I've been working on some others. No pictures yet as they have not been cast, but there'll be a small standing figure with a duck, and a larger seated figure with a small dog. As before, they will be patinated in the old fashioned way, in very small editions and I will work on each wax individually so every bronze will be slightly different. Can't wait to see them myself, and the rest of you can view them first at www.john-noott.com on 16th September.

And after a looong wait, the 2017 calendars are finally here! Nan has cooked up some wonderful deals with complimentary bags, as well as some really special prices on large posters and other prints to clear the decks... Look out for the SPECIAL banners if you'd like to bag a bargain while stocks last. Lovely Nan operates the Mustardshop business from her garage in Cornwall, and with all the new stock she is fast running out of space!

Other news:

Me and Nan are visiting Treeby and Bolton Gallery and Cafe in Keswick October 22nd Please contact them direct for all the lovely details...

And looking ahead to Open Studio season, I will be trying to fit in a weekend of frivolities in December at Brown Dog Studio in Brighton. Either 3rd 4th or 10th 11th whichever fits in best with my lovely little sister's 50th birthday celebrations... I'll keep you posted! And although Moses my dear brown dog will be too old to make an appearance I am having him cast in iron resin - resplendently life size and in a gorgeous chocolatey russet colour - almost as handsome as the real thing. And I'll be able to dress him up in his old silk ties and collars from when he used to greet visitors at my shows. Anyone remember that? It was hard to get him to sit still while we covered him in silicone, but he is patient, good and kind so we are managing fine. Be sure to give him a pat when you visit. He will be available (in a small edition of 27) ... Hard to resist... Price on application (hold your horses, I haven't got mine yet!) and you can see the clay sculpture (by www.alboroughstonecarving.co.uk) on Facebook.

So, dear people, I will look forward to seeing some of you in Broadway 16/17 September, but right now all I can do is dream of clotted cream teas and these Hedgehogs I have heard about on St Agnes beach... An iced confection coated in caramelised nuts which I hear is a lunch stop we really NEED to make! Hope you are enjoying the rainbows!

Be seeing you,

Sam Toft
