Late last year I found a lovely cloth bound book in a local charity shop: Crookleigh, A Village Story by Silas K Hocking. A small slim volume with lots of short chapters and such a sweet old-fashioned story. It sat by me on the bedside cabinet for many months. But through the dark days of Winter, I found myself removing pages and drawing on them, a different little picture idea each day. The Crookleigh Chronicles became the first pictures completed for my show A Small Window of Lightness at Panter and Hall November 2023.
