I found a lovely cloth bound book in a local charity shop: Crookleigh, A Village Story by Silas K Hocking. A small slim volume with lots of short chapters and such a sweet old-fashioned story. It sat by me on the bedside cabinet for many months. But through the dark days of Winter, I found myself removing pages and drawing on them, a different little picture idea each day.
This page entitled ‘Watching and Waiting’ made me think of those times I paused along the Brighton prom…knowing that very soon it would be time to say a final farewell to my dear friends: Moses, then Stanley, then Betty. I miss them. A lot.
