I’m so proud of my little shop at Clifton Hill, Brighton. A childhood dream and a smashing time waster. Full of treasures for you to discover. Drawings, paintings , gifts and surprises you won’t see anywhere else. It’s an experience reserved for our walk in customers. We’re a little old fashioned like that. We don’t do mailorder. Just small editions, one offs, exclusives and a little bit of everything else, squeezed into our tiny space. Charming staff. Nice wrapping.
33 CLIFTON HILL BRIGHTON BN1 3HQ Open Wednesdays - Sundays 10-5pm rain or shine
Information about visiting Little Mustard Shop
Sam Toft has worked with her imaginary friend Mr Mustard for nearly 20 years. In the wonderful world they have created, Ernest Hemmingway Mustard, professional tuneless hummer and part-time hurricane predictor lives in a not-so-damp basement flat with his dear lady wife Violet and Doris their grumpy and rather portly Jack Russell Terrier. Sam follows their adventures along the Prom and across the globe. She works from her seaside studio using oil pastels, coloured inks, steel pen nibs, pencil dust, old tooth brushes as well as her innovative fingers and thumbs technique. Patent pending.
She has recently opened an exclusive Little Mustard Shop in Brighton and her mum, aka Nan Mustard, runs a separate online shop from her garage in Cornwall. The Dog & Bone is an open submission gallery space in two restored Brighton phones boxes with monthly exhibitions. There’s a new Mustard Hamper business run by her sister Louise, a lovely Facebook group and Instagram accounts for Sam’s work, the Little Shop and the Dog and Bone phonebox galleries.
