I do a lot of standing looking out to sea. I’ve stood at these railings on the Prom at Brighton with all three of my dogs now departed: Betty, Moses and Stanley Philpot. So many memories, it’s hard to start again with my new pup Birdy. But one day we’ll be sitting on our bench, snuggled up against the weather admiring the same view and thinking of all those who’ve gone before.
